Scholarship
Enhancing the South Student Body by Supporting Scholarship, Enrichment and Preservation Programs.
Investing in Education, Nurturing Tomorrow’s Leaders
For over 80 years, the Mothers’ Club has been a beacon of opportunity, awarding college scholarships to graduating seniors. In 2024, we proudly granted 85 scholarships totaling $65,842. Beyond our dedicated efforts, alumni, local organizations, and families within the Grosse Pointe Community contribute to this life-changing initiative.
Our scholarship program transcends mere academic achievement. We delve into the rich tapestry of each student, considering their extracurricular pursuits, community service, work experiences, passions, and academic triumphs. By investing in the “whole” student, we cultivate well-rounded individuals ready to make a lasting impact on the world.
Looking to Apply for a Scholarship?
Mothers’ Club scholarships are based on both financial need and academic merit. Interested students must fill out an application (available in January 2025) in the Counseling Center or online, and will be interviewed by the Mothers’ Club Scholarship Committee in March.
Scholarship recipients will receive their awards at a very special Mothers’ Club Awards Night, which will be held in May of 2025 at the school.
Looking to Donate or Create a New Scholarship?
We are always looking for new ways to recognize and honor more of our deserving seniors! In addition to scholarships provided by the Grosse Pointe Mothers’ Club, we administer scholarships from alumni looking to give back to South, from family members honoring loved ones, from various community groups looking to support students that embody special characteristics, and from local businesses looking to support students pursuing specific academic interests. The VP of Scholarship will work with you to establish criteria for your scholarship. Scholarships can be one-time or recurring and we encourage you to join us for Scholarship Awards Night to present your award to the deserving student.
Not interested in setting up an individual scholarship? We also welcome donations of any amount to the Mothers’ Club general scholarship fund! These funds are added to our investment account, helping to ensure that we can provide scholarships to deserving students for years to come.
